Design Futures (lecture)

Project deliverables, brief and everything we need to know about semester 2. Before we fly off to London we should finalize the concept of our artifact. And when we come back we should be able to properly work on it already. We can do physical or digital landscape format for the A1 presentation board. Johnston also shared some previous projects with us so that we can imagine the potential that our artifacts can take.

Today we introduced ourselves to Hazeena in tutorials and I mentioned how excited I was to see the crazy ideas of others in the module as well as the fact that futures is going to be more exciting than studio because of the freedom of creativity. Johnston talked to us about how our futures project should confirm its direction by week 3, and week 4 is presentation week. Its the 2nd week and although we have found our specified topic related to sound and lifestyle, we have yet to decide on the specific direction. To start off, there was a recap session that talked about the Futures Cone, possible, plausible, probable future. In this class there was also alot of participation from students about speculative design and other examples from past projects that were brought up as discussion topics.

My chosen topic in the miro board was quality of life through design, on the subject of “Integrated architecture with home, parks and leisure”. To use PESTLE or STEEP to describe the research in depth (which will definitely help) and present the analysis on Friday next week.
​
There was also a sharing in class about our journal entry for the week which describes the changes we went through in life and its impact on us. One sharing after another led to me sharing about my gf, friends, family and how they have significantly impacted my life. Homework was to focus on research for STEEP to really understand if I can proceed with the trend report.
